Morgan Ashurst wins school construction job in Scotland

Morgan Ashurst has won a school construction job in Scotland after being awarded the contract for the work by Fife Council.

The firm will aim to build one of the greenest schools in the country under the eco-friendly plans.

Green features of the £7.8 million construction job may include the incorporation of wind turbines as well as the usage of sustainable building materials throughout the project.

Morgan Ashurst managing director Harry Thorburn said he was "thrilled" with the contract award.

"This project has given us an opportunity to use sustainable technologies and construction methods throughout the entire process from the design phases," he commented.

Morgan Ashurst is aiming for a BREEAM rating of excellent or even outstanding for the construction job.

This follows the company being awarded the £6.3 million contract to design and build a tower of apartments and offices in central London.

The construction job will feature solar panels and energy-efficient ventilation and is expected to be completed in April 2011.
